Eric Kluitenberg is an independent theorist, writer, and organiser on culture, media and technology.  He is the editor-in-chief of the Tactical Media Files, and a Research Fellow at the Institute of Network Cultures (2013). He teaches media theory and history at the Art/Science Interfaculty in The Hague.

Michael Benson

Michael Benson is a writer, film-maker, and photographer. In recent years he has authored a series of illustrated books with space themes for Abrams, the leading publisher of art books in the United States. His new book, Far Out: A Space-Time Chronicle, was well in reviewed in The New York Times, The LA Times, and other publications. Benson's Beyond exhibition projects are based on his book Beyond: Visions of the Interplanetary Probes, which has been published in English, French, German, Spanish, Korean and Japanese. Beyond exhibitions of varying sizes have toured Europe and North America, and limited-edition prints from the Beyond project produced by Benson's company, Kinetikon Pictures, have been acquired by museums and private collectors.

    In memoriam: Oleg Kireev 

    On Friday April 3, 2009 we received the terribly sad news that our friend and ever inspiring colleague Oleg Kireev from Moscow had died, apparently as a result of suicide. We are left behind as friends and colleagues, bereaved and puzzled by this dramatic fact. Kireev was a prominent guest in some of the most important projects in the art / media / politics triangle, which we had the honour developing at De Balie. Kireev was a crucial figure in circles of free culture, media activism and the arts in Moscow, one of the most demanding environments for such activity one can think of.
