Artist Born 1955, Arad, Romania Based in Amsterdam and Bucharest MA in Art History & Theory. Initial career as art journalist, free lance curator and cultural manager (with the Soros Foundation, Romania). From 1990 involved in various cross media projects independently and within the art duo subREAL. Developer of multi-media projects with V2 Lab for the Unstable Media, Rotterdam. Creative Director for rich media platforms - Lost Boys Interactive, Amsterdam. Contributions to mainstream and alternative publications on internet related topics. Consultant for the Dutch Fund for Visual Arts, Design and Architecture. Various teaching positions. Lately pursues an independent research on the interplay between citizens and their habitat - the Emotional Architecture.

Oleg Kireev

Oleg Kireev (born 1975) - art- and mediacritic, editor and curator, writer, critic and activist, founder of the Ghetto collective, Moscow. Participated in a number of media-political campaigns ("Against all parties", 1999) and actions ("Barricade at Bolshaya Nikitskaya", May 1998). Author of articles on art and politics in the Russian and international press ("Novaya gazeta", "Nezavasimaya gazeta", "Flash art", "Siksi", "Mute"

The 'art' of disappearing 

Thereis no place in the Netherlands for the odd one out. Strangers can beassimilated or deported and sick people can be cured or euthanised, butthe dreamer and the bohemian will not fit in a straight-jacket. Thereare only paved roads to follow in this country and those who cannot orwill not follow these roads are doomed. Sooner or later that odd oneout will be given a choice: either he will lay hands on himself or hewill be lend a hand with his choice. After that he can rot in his graveuntil after long the time is ripe to memorise his peculiarity at astrictly limited occasion.

Bas Raijmakers

Bas Raijmakers is the creative director of STBY. Since the early nineties he has worked in the internet and media industry as consultant and research manager. He holds a master degree in Communication Sciences from the University of Amsterdam (1990) and a PhD degree in Design Interactions from the Royal College of Art in London (2007).

Video Vortex Reader II launched and available for download 

On Saturday, the 12th of March 2011, a few minutes before six, the second Video Vortex reader was  presented to the audience of the sixth edition of the Video Vortex conference. Editors Geert Lovink and Rachel Somers Miles invited the contributors to the second volume, who were present en masse, to celebrate the launch of the book on stage.
